HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO
 
Are you excited to put the classroom knowledge you have learned so far into action? Get out of the classroom, and come and spend the summer of 2023 with an industry leader in cement, aggregates, and concrete. We are seeking students who are looking to get their hands dirty by immersing themselves in plant processes. This position will have the opportunity to tackle new challenges and projects and gain real world working experience. You will have lots to talk about when you return to school in the fall!

  • Participate in a program to provide students with work experience that is relevant to their major and complements their education
  • Summer projects vary in scope and size just as our products do. By the end of the summer, you will have had the opportunity to work with some of our industry’s best and brightest managers
  • Developing experience in all areas of management at our Ready-Mix facility. Dispatch, Plant Management, Sales, and Quality Control.
  • Help in finding work using bid exchanges and invitation to bids.
  • Research job specifications and provide commentary on concrete requirements.
  • Prepare proposals for projects.
  • Aid in inventory, receiving materials, and daily usage reports.
  • Answer phones, take orders, and handle incoming customer requests.
  • Test concrete at the plant and/or jobsite to ensure it meets specifications.
  • Attend jobsite pre-placement and planning meetings.
  • Develop new concrete mixtures in our quality control lab.
  • Prepare and implement an improvement project for the business under the guidance of the manager throughout your internship.
 This position will be based at Pittsburgh, PA 
HERE’S WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Current sophomores, juniors, and seniors working toward a degree in Civil, Chemical, and Structural engineering, Concrete Industry Management, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Commitment and engagement through high level of work ethic and utilization of abilities for the best of the company
  • Strong ability in performing mathematical calculations.
  • Prior experience in the ready mix concrete laboratory testing is preferred.
  • Proficient with computer and software databases, primarily MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Experience in resolving problems and dealing with difficult situations.
  • Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Must be willing to work a variety of different hours including early starts or late finishes. Night/Midnight shifts are not often, but do occur.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
