Job Description:CMTA Dallas, a Legence company, seeks a highly successful and motivated construction administrator / commissioning engineer with five years or more experience in mechanical and/or electrical construction projects to join our team. The successful candidate will serve as a representative for CMTA during all phases of construction with support for mechanical and electrical project engineering team while working to achieve the goals CMTA has set forth related to Building Science Leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for review of contractor’s installation quality and make regular inspections/punch lists while keeping the project scheduling moving. Attendance at owner, architect, contractor (OAC) meetings will be required to help solve problems related to the mechanical electrical systems being installed/operated and construction phasing. OAC meetings will be a mix of in-person and virtual/remote meetings. Also, work with shop drawings, submittals, RFI’s and review drawings against project specifications. This position also involves technical field commissioning and retro-commissioning with a focus on Building Science Leadership. Specific tasks will include implementation of technical commissioning and retro-commissioning processes and standards, review of project design documents, preparation of commissioning plans, attendance at project meetings, inspection and functional testing of installed equipment and systems, and preparation of commissioning and retro-commissioning reports. Work Conditions:This position will require the associate to travel throughout the state with overnight stays sometimes necessary. Some projects may be located outside the state. When on jobsites, the associate will be working in all types of weather which may, at times, include extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, snow, etc. Minor lifting may be required along with climbing ladders, crawling, and working in tight spaces. Prolonged standing may also be required. Desired Experience:2 years combined building systems commissioning and retro-commissioning experience4 years combined HVAC and controls experienceBachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalentCommissioning or retro-commissioning certification preferredCxA/CCP preferredMechanical and/or electrical design experience preferredTest and balance certification a plusStrong communication, project management and organizational skillsNational standard commissioning and retro-commissioning processes (i.e. ASHRAE, ACG, NEBB, LEED, BCA).Mechanical (HVAC) systems: unitary systems, air distribution (fans, ducting, VAVs), refrigeration systems, chilled water plant & systems, hot water heating plants & systems, steam heating plants & systems, geothermal HVAC, dedicated outside air systems.Electrical systems: power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, emergency power, UPS, metering & sub-metering, renewable energy systems.Plumbing systems: domestic hot water heating, grey water systems.Building automation systems, diagrams, points and sequences.Test and balance process and procedures (air & hydronic).Review and comment on Owner’s Performance Requirements (OPR) and Basis of Design (BOD) documents.Read and interpret construction plans and specifications, particularly for MEP/FP systemsVerify equipment/system installations comply with construction documents and manufacturer’s installation instructions.Desired EducationMechanical, Electrical engineering degree is required ORMEP project management experience with a mechanical or electrical contracting company.
