Legacy Behavioral Health Services Human Resources is Hiring a Housing Specialist-Full Time Near VALDOSTA, GA

A National Health Service Corp Certified Site for further information visit https://nhsc.hrsa.gov/loan-repayment/state-loan-repayment-program/index.html This position will service consumers in our Albany area and surrounding counties.Position Summary:Under the supervision of the Housing Coordinator, in the community setting Housing Specialist assists individuals in regaining control over their own lives, while promoting the recovery process by assisting individuals in attaining safe and affordable housing and working towards the goal of individuals sustaining independent living supports. The overall goal of community integration is through promotion of independent living immediate access to a housing subsidy. Housing Specialist utilizes psychiatric rehabilitation interventions working on goal attainment by providing skills training, education and case management to consumers who are currently residing in an independent living setting provided by Georgia Housing Voucher Program (GHVP), Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), etc. Timely and accurate documenting of the individual’s course of treatment and progress towards established goals is part of the position expectations. Ability to work well and communicate professionally with the team and community stakeholders is required. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Must be 21 years of ageAssociates degree or bachelor’s degree, in one of the helping professions such as social work, psychology, counseling, community counseling, sociology, criminal justice, human service field. Proven experience can be substituted for formal educationCertified Peer Specialists are strongly encouraged to apply.A passion for connecting with people experiencing homelessness is a must. 1-3 years of working with homeless services. Availability to work flexible hours to provide on-call support and respond to after-hours concerns and emergencies.Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency is required. Must have a valid Georgia driver's license with no more than 6 points; required.Demonstrated excellent problem-solving ad interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication. Computer experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; preferred.Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to keep detailed records.Must promote good working relationships with variety of programs and agencies across our service areas as well as other stakeholders.Familiarity with Georgia state and local housing resources and programs is preferred.Experience providing housing services and/or community mental health service preferred. 1-3 years working in the behavioral health and/or substance abuse field is preferred.Certification in Addiction Counseling is a plus.Proficiency in Client Track and Coordinated Entry (CE) preferred Working Conditions:Must be physically and emotionally fit to work in a stress-filled environment to meet deadlines and deal with routine and crisis situations. May have extended periods of sitting, walking, and standing. Requires varying hours of duty to provide monitoring, educational and/or crisis handling, as well as travel to off campus locations in LBHS or personal vehicle. Work Environment-Employees in this position may be exposed to potential health hazards in the work environment. Incumbents may be required to work extended periods of time at computer terminals. They may experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric and /or deceased patients.Physical Demands-The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions (may be corrected with glasses or contact lenses).
