SUMMARY

Under the direction and guidance of the Outreach Services & Community Engagement Manager, this position is responsible for promoting Leader Dogs for the Blinds services in the community and stewarding prospective client and professional relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, prepares, and delivers presentations to educate and engage industry contacts, potential clients, donors, volunteers, and the general public.
  • Responds to incoming requests for, and proactively seeks opportunities for LDB speakers; assigns speakers and Canine Ambassadors for appropriate opportunities.
  • Schedules agency visits for LDB field representatives for distribution of materials and/or speaking engagements.
  • Assists with management of canine ambassadors with assessments, communication with hosts, retirement, or acquisition of additional canine ambassadors.
  • Maintains updated database of vision-related agencies.
  • Maintains marketing materials to be distributed to LDB representatives prior to agency visits and community presentations.
  • Assists with Virtual Learning, Collaboration Events, and webinars including development of content, scheduling, promoting, tracking and follow-up.
  • Captures interest from various events and sources, documents and follows through with information as needed.
  • Executes recruitment and stewardship plans for prospective clients and professional contacts including regular follow up and providing information and opportunities for engagement.
  • Provides regular reporting and analysis on client recruitment efforts.
  • Schedules campus tours for prospective clients with volunteers; arranges follow-up conversations with appropriate Leader Dog team members.
  • This position may be required to travel up to 20%.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in marketing and communication or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in customer service, marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
  • Experience with orientation and mobility or guide dog mobility preferred.

  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge and understanding of principles of marketing and communications.

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Must have the ability to travel when necessary; may be required to possess a valid drivers license, chauffers license and passport.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent computer skills including the ability to use the latest version of Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be comfortable with and willing to work around large dogs.
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule that includes non-traditional business hours.
  • Willing to perform general public relations duties on behalf of Leader Dog (perform tours, answer general questions, be a professional and courteous representative of Leader Dog, etc.).
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional, productive and courteous interactions with employees to promote positive teamwork, as well as with volunteers, donors, clients, and all constituents of Leader Dog. This encompasses going beyond giving and receiving instructions and includes but is not limited to (a) performing work activities requiring interacting or speaking with others; and (b) responding appropriately to constructive feedback or suggestions for improvement from a supervisor.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to use the phone and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Strength and stamina to physically handle a dog of 50lbs or greater
  • Manual dexterity to hold a leash securely in both hands
