The Spirit of the Position

The Vice President of Municipal Operations oversees all areas of government services from a parking/transportation perspective and provides leadership for and oversight of the development, management, assessment, and quality improvement of all government accounts. The role will largely focus on business development including acquiring new municipal accounts, leading transitions and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients within the portfolio. This position will be part of the national Municipal Services team with primary responsibilities focused on the eastern United States.

Principal Job Duties

  • Develop and execute strategies to expand the business within government agencies, increase revenue and achieve strategic objectives.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, partners and vendors.

  • Responsible for developing and supporting regional business development efforts, which includes proposal development direction, RFP responses, presentations, and oversight and assistance with location-based transitions.

  • Responsible for the administrative ownership and understanding of national and regional government contracts.

  • Assist with the development of LAZ's Government Service strategic business plan, service line profitability and future direction for the division.

  • Work with regional offices to evaluate current and future government opportunities and ensure solutions are delivered to support internal and external university client needs.

  • Networks throughout the many differing national and regional associations, leagues, teams, and agencies to develop new relationships and continually maintain and strengthen current relationships/pipeline for strong business growth and retention.

  • Supply financial reports, analyses and consultative reporting to Government Services teams and clients as needed.

  • Monitor, review, and analyze specific growth markets.

  • Assist the operations team with the transition of all new government locations added to the portfolio.

  • Responsible for assisting in identifying, ranking, developing and managing government agency prospects and then successfully bringing the prospect through the sales pipeline to a successful close.

  • Implementation and completion of other projects, programs, and initiatives that may arise from the portfolio's operation.

  • Additional related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be based in/willing to work in EST or CST time zones.

Travel

  • 50% of time travelling to locations across the U.S. in pursuit of new business and supporting existing business.

  • Responsible for being the onsite leader through new acquired business for elongated transition periods.

  • Primary travel responsibility will be the eastern United States.

Education

  • BA/BS Degree required, preferably in Sales, Business Administration, Marketing or Public Administration.

Experience

  • 5 years in a business development or senior management role focused on government service delivery.

  • 5 years operations experience required.

  • 5 years of parking industry experience is required.

Skills

  • Strong in person and phone relationship-building skills required.

  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships with all levels of the organization and client organizations.

  • Knowledge and understanding of municipal operations and procurement processes.

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.

  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the English language.

  • Must be open to feedback, differing opinions and other points of view.

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and timeliness.

  • Demonstrates the ability to seek improvement.

  • Excellent teambuilding and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds.
