Accounting Specialist – Payroll & Travel

Lawelawe Management Group is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist with a focus in payroll. The payroll accounting specialist is responsible for ensuring that payroll processing is accurate, on-time, and compliant. This position will also be responsible for administering the company’s travel policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all employee timesheets are submitted and approved in accordance with company policy.
  • Enter, maintain, and process information in the appropriate system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, terminations, and other information.
  • Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions.
  • Compile and verify employee timesheet for payroll processing.
  • Prepare and process biweekly payroll through third party vendor.
  • Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
  • Prepare payroll registry, post payroll reports, and payroll statements.
  • Respond to payroll related inquiries and prepare reports for management and Finance department.
  • Record and process federal and state payroll tax deposits.
  • Assist in refining payroll processes.
  • Receive and verify expense reports; reconcile expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records.
  • Administer travel policy, to include granting access to company travel booking system.
  • Ensure expenses are compliant with company travel policy/procedures, GAAP, FAR, Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), IRS guidelines, etc.
  • Assist with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions and the preparation of financial reports.
  • Process all payroll and travel payments through accounts payable system.
  • Assist HR and Finance department with various projects and deliverables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Good math skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team and in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Great communication skills and the ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience required
  • Accounting or bookkeeping experience required.
  • Deltek Costpoint and Costpoint Time & Expense experience preferred.
  • Federal contracting and Service Contract Act (SCA) experience highly desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
