The Artist in Residence & Director of Creative Program Development (denoted as the AR-DCPD) represents Laura Baker Services Association to the people and communities in which the Association participates, using Laura Baker Services Association standards of conduct and guiding philosophies to promote the well-being of the people the Association supports.
Primary Objectives:
- Establish new resources for clients and staff
- Support and promote the quality of life for the clients of LBSA
- Enrich the the work life for LBSA direct care staff and prospective employees through activity involvement
- Provide a variety of creative and recreational activities for clients (individual and group activities)
- Assessing, monitoring, and developing creative arts programming and tracking its benefit to clients
- Making programming recommendations for art goals while considering input from clients and household staff
- Write and carry out goals and objectives that encourage independence, choice making, and self determination
- Program data including: daily logs, data collection charts, monthly updates, quarterly and annual reports
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques to teach both staff members and clients
Knowledge and Education Requirements:
Be a graduate from a master's program in art therapy. Hold one of the following credentials under the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB): Art therapist registered (ATR), Art therapist registered – board certified (ATR-BC) or Art therapist registered – provisional (ATR-P) and under the supervision of an ATR or ATR-BC
- At least one year of full-time experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Must pass a Minnesota Department of Human Services background study and be able to maintain eligibility
Rate of pay dependent on experience. Employees are eligible for a raise after the first 6 months of employment. Benefits are available after the first 60 days of employment to all employees consistently working 30 hours per week or more. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, 401k plan, and paid time off.
