About the Job:
LaunchDarkly is looking for a talented and inspirational product leader who can manage and lead the product function for our Core Application teams. This is the foundation of our business and is the primary ARR driver, and what our customers know as the ‘feature flagging’ product. This role will have a clear, direct, and measurable impact on company revenue, and we are looking for someone excited to take that responsibility, make wise trade-offs, and drive successful outcomes for the business.
You can expect to spend some of your time making direct contributions, and the rest, leading and mentoring a team of 2-4 Product Managers. This may fluctuate depending on the project and needs of the team, but we're always looking for people who are passionate about solving problems for their customers and up-leveling their team.
This role requires a strong analytical skillset, powerful design chops, and past experience managing high-performing product managers. In addition to technical acumen and experience with high-growth products, you will bring experience optimizing product teams for the execution of the business strategy.
About You:
Two or more years’ experience leading product managers: hiring, motivating, empowering, and performance managing.
Experience delivering technical products from concept to launch. You have a good understanding of the B2B motions to effectively collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and Support teams.
Curiosity and passion for improving the lives and work of software developers around the world. A drive to truly understand the needs of the customer, and the ability to translate those into business goals.
You’re comfortable saying “No” because you understand that that’s part of the job, but also know when it’s time to say “Yes, let’s do that!” for quick wins that boost team morale.
Skills and knowledge that will establish credibility with your team, and a passion for sharing that knowledge and helping to raise the bar for everyone you work with.
You have a strong product sense and understand that the details make or break customer trust. You provide the attention to detail this responsibility deserves.
You are a systems thinker and solve problems in a holistic way. You value incremental delivery, but also take immense pride in what we put in front of customers.
You’re able to traverse between altitudes with ease. You’re able to discuss OKRs and annual roadmaps in one moment and easily switch to reviewing a product spec in the next.
What You'll Get To Do:
Help break down the product strategy in a way that helps your teams understand their role in it.
Prioritize a roadmap across three teams that balances feature delivery, operational health, and bug fixing.
Align with the Design and Engineering leaders to ensure that our triads (engineering, design, product) are building valuable products while delivering on the business goals effectively.
Lead your PM team to deliver while keeping everyone – inside and outside the team – motivated, empowered, growing, and happy.
Champion products and initiatives, working with the executive team, to ensure that we’re meeting our bar for great product delivery.
Work with Marketing and Sales to craft compelling messages about the impact of our platform, products, and features. Also, engage with Customer Success and Support Engineering to understand our customers' challenges and needs.
Understand the market dynamics that affect our products, competitive products, our position, and the evolution of the market itself.
All LaunchDarkly Product Leaders should have:
Understanding of modern software development lifecycles including common tools, processes, and bottlenecks.
Experience taking products from concept to launch.
Experience building products with an API-first approach.
Working on highly-distributed, high-volume services with 24/7 operational needs.
