Production Lead SHIFT: 6:30am - 2:30pm - Weekends as needed Pay: $22.21 Position Summary: As a Production Lead you will assist the Production Supervisor with the daily operating functions of the Production crew. Delegating responsibilities of all Production Employees to meet daily production goals is an essential function of this position. You will be responsible for reviewing the Production Schedule and Work Orders to ensure finished product is produced in accordance with the Product and Quality Specifications. As a Production Lead, you will be cross trained in all Production areas to provide guidance and break relief, as necessary. You will be interacting with operators and maintenance during your shift to help ensure equipment reliability. This position requires great attention to detail, good written and oral communication skills, working well with others and the ability to make quick decisions using sound judgement. The Production Operators will be monitored by the Production Lead and Production Supervisor to ensure Quality, Good Manufacturing Procedures, Safety, Production, Training and Housekeeping requirements are met. Essential Daily Functions: Conduct walkthrough of the production floor to make sure equipment is operational and staffed accordingly In the supervisor’s absence, lead pre-shift meetings reviewing production schedule, goals, safety etc. Communicate with in or out-going Production Shift Leads/Supervisor as to Production metrics, Work Orders, equipment, or any pertinent issues Report all non-conforming discrepancies to Production Supervisor, Quality Assurance Supervisor and Management in a timely manner Ability to fully complete and gather required documents for all Yield Variance and Non-conforming investigations reports Ensure all associates conduct the required stretching exercises before starting work on the lines The Production Lead will assist all Production Operators with daily equipment start up or shut down Communicate any sequence changes to the Production Operators Monitor and report excessive down time Schedule all meal and rest breaks and cover stations, if necessary, to ensure all employees meet their CA meal and rest break requirements Knowledge of all areas is crucial, including Repete, printing/updating production schedules, optiseq, receiving and pelleting control systems Report any safety and GMP violations to Production Supervisor immediately Comply with all GMP, personal protective clothing, and hearing protection policies Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and communicate with Maintenance as needed Participate in continuous improvement projects Provide consistent leadership across a diverse group of team members Miscellaneous assignments as required by management Must help cover breaks and lunches as needed. Must be flexible working on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift including weekends. Required Experience and Education: High School diploma or equivalent College degree or certificate from accredited institution preferred Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must have knowledge of Production operation and process in each department (Receiving, Micro, Mixing, Pelleting, Packaging, and Shipping) Knowledge of all areas is crucial, including DataStor, printing/updating production schedules, optiseq, receiving and pelleting control systems and JDE Feed. Read and write in English Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment Follow instructions for operating equipment and records keeping Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner Maintain a clean & safe environment Strong leadership skills Essential Physical Requirements: Frequent lifting, up to 50 pounds Adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn pivot Stand for long periods of time Good sense of balance Good eye-hand-foot coordination Ability to work in a dusty environment Work in confined spaces during cleaning Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending on season 32-110 degrees Ability to learn all operating equipment and duties Perform daily stretching exercises Standing: Entire shift Pushing/Pulling: Frequently Lift Capacity up to 50 lbs.: Frequently Noise typical of a production environment: Entire shift/Hearing Protection Required Time Demands: On occasion, business demands may require some employees to work overtime. When overtime is required, employees are expected to work extra hours as required to meet business needs – this is a requirement of this position.
