Manufacturing Engineer

We have three manufacturing facilities and thirteen Showrooms. As a part of our growth strategy, we are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer at our Manlius, NY facility to join our team!

Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for assisting in the design and development of processes to manufacture furniture while ensuring production procedures efficiently utilize materials and personnel; testing finished product for quality purposes and recommending changes to product specifications as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods including supporting the implementation of changes as directed.
• Actively participate in LEAN / continuous improvement projects; partner with Production teams to improve process flow and elimination of waste
• Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
• Drives continuous improvements towards product, process and Value engineering.
• Works with Product engineering staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and that manufacturing schedules are attainable through timely completion of fully engineered package.
• Works with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
• Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
• Works with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production requirements and potential.
• Ensure cost effective manufacturing through early development of all essential figures and of fixtures, processes, tooling, etc.
• Utilizes blueprints and technical/engineered drawings.
• Stays up to date with a variety of manufacturing processes and materials.
• Works independently and displays a professional attitude and represent the company with integrity and professionalism.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Solid understanding of Lean principles
• Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities concurrently
• Excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate well with others
• Self-motivated / self-directed
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Willingness to challenge the status quo
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft office, AutoCAD and 3D solid modeling preferred.
• Woodworking industry experience preferred but not essential.

Required Education:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering / technical discipline or Associates degree with minimum of 5 years Manufacturing Engineering experience
