GSP132, Busi Support Analyst 3 (L) - "Statewide Insurance and Risk Mgr"

Job Salary: $58,047.69

Description of Duties: Under broad supervision, performs complex administrative duties and statistical, financial, or operational data analysis and reporting in support of management decision making in functional area. Identifies trends, discrepancies, and variances to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. May partner with other departments, divisions, outside agencies, and vendors to address business issues. Exercises various latitudes of independent judgment. May administer or provide high level support for various projects, grants, contracts, implementation of procedures, and/or any specialized functions. Assists with orientation, training, or providing task guidance of junior team members. Provides strategic analysis.

Job Specific Duties: Under general supervision, assists in managing the Department's safety policies, procedures, and program to reduce losses. This includes but not limited to facilitating and/or conducting training focused on insurance and liability topics; reviewing facilities inspections for potential risks; documenting, reporting, and managing worker compensation, vehicle and tort/general liability cases; working with an approved occupational health care network to insure expedited return to work as well as minimize overall cost associated with a workers compensation claim; collaborating with worker compensation, vehicle and tort/general liability third-party administrators (TPA), insurance providers and attorneys when dealing with law suits; creating employee files, and collect all required documents; and conducting monthly safety meetings. May supervise and evaluate work of insurance/risk staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications.

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of experience related to area of assignment.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

* Professional work experience in the field of occupational safety

* Working knowledge of safety regulations and laws

* Professional level work experience in the field of occupational safety

* Knowledge of and experience in Worker's Compensation Georgia Workers' Compensation law, reporting process and procedures

* Demonstrated experience in interpreting industrial/manufacturing work-place safety practices and standards

* Experience in a lead or supervisory role interacting with others to guide, influence, motivate, and challenge staff

* Demonstrated experience training individuals and to developing training and information programs

* Demonstrated experience inspecting facilities and work-sites to ensure compliance with safety laws, policies, regulations and procedures

* Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with the use of MS Office and Outlook

* Demonstrated experience preparing and delivering clear and convincing oral presentations, to teach, motivate and persuade others to accept recommendations

* Displays initiative and commitment towards completing tasks

* Demonstrated ability to comprehend and adapts to new policies and procedures

* Demonstrated experience organizing and prioritizing work, adapting flexible approach to organizational needs and routines

* Demonstrated experience identifying problems, gathering and interpreting information, making correct inferences to reach and implement a decision to accomplish goals

* Committed to providing quality customer service

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Professional level work experience in the field of worker's compensation and/or liability insurance for a state agency, federal agency or private organization, in construction or maintenance industry

* Possession of a recognized insurance or safety certification or completion of a formal insurance or safety training program

Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee's favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
