Our fast-growing startup is looking for a passionate, self-motivated Senior Software Engineer to build out our market-leading Natural Language Search platform and push Kyndi's AI as a Service (SaaS) platform to the next level.

Your goal will be to combine technical leadership, excellent creative problem solving skills, and coding prowess to create novel technology targeting human augmentation via AI. Kyndi’s mission strives to make every human being that spends time finding answers to questions 10x more productive.

Primary responsibilities and day-to-day

• Write clear and maintainable Java / Python code while working in a professional software engineering environment (source control, continuous integration, short release cycles, automated testing, etc.)
• Identify opportunities for code improvement and refactor for efficiency and maintainability 
• Collaborate on architecture of Kyndi’s AI platform with multi-discipline team
• Mentor software engineers by providing coaching and advice
• Determine the root cause for complex software issues and develop practical, efficient, and permanent technical solutions.
• Build innovative and performant features into our Natural Language Search platform using the latest engineering practices and technologies
• Learn and/or leverage leading edge NLP technologies (both Kyndi proprietary as well as standards like BERT etc.)
• Code in a container-first environment where every engineer has the ability to code and iterate locally while leveraging a personal AWS VPC Kubernetes cluster for anything they’re not actively working on
• Collaborate with a team that treats every PR review as an opportunity for both coder and reviewer to learn
• Work with Software Architects, Product, and QA teams to flush out feature designs. Break work up into well-defined manageable units of work.

Must-have skills and experience

• 6 years platform oriented coding experience (Java, Python, etc.)
• Passion for pragmatic, elegant and efficient code
• Proven ability to understand, diagnose and evolve novel complex technical systems
• Demonstrated proficiency in creative problem solving
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently without supervision
• Backend SaaS / Cloud experience strongly preferred
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• B.S. Computer Science or similar degree

This is a full-time remote position with operations based in San Mateo, CA and the Pacific time zone. An applicant must have proper paperwork to be employed in the United States, and must also be physically located within the United States.
