Overview

Entry level position within the Project Management department. 

The position allows someone to develop their project management and leadership skills while studying under a seasoned project manager. The position will begin as support for other project managers in a way that allows learning of the water treatment industry, our different market segments, and our internal processes and procedures. The Associate Project Manager will help build O&M manuals, submittals, and other documents required for project execution. The position will not start as a customer facing position for the first 6 months to 1 year and will gradually help build the skills to allow the Associate Project Manager to take on smaller projects after the training period has ended.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage multiple industrial, wastewater, and municipal equipment project requirement documentation as instructed by department Director with input by other Project Managers.
• Effectively coordinate with Drafters, Purchasing, Shop, Field Service and other personnel as instructed to help maintain project schedules and customer requirements.
• Assist Project Managers to meet or exceed project standards for completeness and timeliness: o Submittal out in 30 days from purchase order date or per quote
• PM to Drafter hand-off 7 days after receipt of project
• Bill of Material to Shop four weeks before Tag 2 of first piece of equipment
• Shipment within letter of quotation terms
• Punchlist items completed within 2 weeks of identification
• Keep Director of Project Management and Project Managers fully informed regarding status of assigned action items.
• Appropriately utilize resources for administrative (copying, standard letter writing, etc.) and technical tasks (BOM creation, purchasing, shipping, punch list completion, etc.)
• Serve as a back-up Project Manager on a small amount of projects for learning purposes and advance to next training level.
• Manage small projects after a predetermined training period has elapsed.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree or four-year degree, or equivalent experience.

• Less than 1 year project management experience or other related position within the production or fabrication industries.

• Experience with project management software tools for scheduling and budgeting. Familiar with project management requirements of managing budgets, schedule, and customer relationships.

Physical Requirements:

• Climbing, ascending, and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and industrial equipment, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
• Reaching and extending hands and arms in any direction.
• Standing and walking for sustained periods of time.
• Pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and stooping for sustained periods of time.
• Using upper extremities to move objects and equipment with steady force.
• Sometimes working in temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
