Position Summary:

Essential Job Functions:

· Promote trust and respect among associates.

• Act in a professional manner and always display a positive attitude.
• Speak highly of the company in the presence of customers and other employees.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of meat specials.
• Provide customers with fresh and frozen products.
• Recommend meat items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Use all equipment in meat department such as the refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness. Review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
• Verify countries of origin labels are correct for all meat products.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Adhere to policies and procedures pertaining to safety, shrink, product dating, sanitation, temperature logs, and grinding logs.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Understand how to properly weigh, wrap and tag product.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud to store management.
• Unload meat trucks using powered or manual jack.
• Understand how to breakdown and clean equipment, clean display cases, and dispose of product that is no longer suitable for sale (this involves contact with various cleaning products).
• Operate the baler.
• Support company initiatives.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
• Must be 18 years of age
