Kopp Glass is seeking to fill a newly created role for a full-time Senior Cost Accountant to provide valuable managerial accounting and financial analysis in support of operations at its integrated Pittsburgh-based glass manufacturing business. We are seeking a dynamic finance professional who brings a deep level managerial/cost accounting expertise and a proven track record of working across all levels of an organization to provide broad-level support at every step of the value chain including the areas of production, inventory management, supply chain, facilities, R&D, and capital budgeting. The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for various operational focused accounting functions, management of the standard costing system, inventory management and controls, production analysis, metrics, and reporting, and financial trend and variance analyses. The focus of this position is on providing best practices, data-driven analyses, insights, and recommendations that drive decision-making, enhanced utilization of the established ERP system, and continuously improve the control of inventories and effectiveness of the established costing system in a job shop environment. In addition to providing day-to-day support for core operations, the Senior Cost Accountant will also be joining the company at an exciting time with opportunity to support strategic growth initiatives, including the planning and design of costing systems, ERP system integration, and inventory management processes at a newly established satellite R&D center that is home to innovative early-stage advanced glass technologies. This is a full-time, onsite salaried exempt role based at our Corporate Headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Plant Accountant brings proven analytical abilities and experience to sort through data and prepare meaningful information and insights to assist executive and frontline management with decision making, financial deliverables, and business performance metrics and reporting. The successful candidate will bring a “roll up the sleeves” approach to getting things done and a demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships at all levels of a similar-sized manufacturing organization.

Summary Listing of Key Duties:

• Understanding and analysis of ERP transaction data germane to the full value creation cycle; including the physical movement of inventory, time entry on work centers and operations, operational activities such as production runs, and other cost allocations in batch or job shop manufacturing environment. Work closely with the purchasing department and build deep understanding of inventory movements across the supply chain.
• Lead monthly review process to conduct profitability reviews of key product lines and work center performance; utilize cost data to drive process improvements and actionable insights delivered to the frontlines; conduct review and analyses related to production activity levels and input cost trends, including consumption variances, inventory valuation accuracy, and work order data integrity.
• Develop and monitor annual cost standards for material, labor, and overhead; analyze material and labor variances with sales, purchasing, engineering, and operational teams. Demonstrate critical thinking to enhance existing costing system with an ‘end in mind’ approach relative to current and future technology/growth initiatives. Work with IT/Production on control and maintenance of part-level BOM's and routers and monitor variances to forecasts proactively.
• Oversee and ensure strong coordination of the physical inventory process and process enhancements, coordinate inventory cycle counts and the annual physical inventories.
• Fixed asset lifecycle management, including supporting capital projects, acquisition, planning, financial modeling, and budgeting processes, asset tagging, tracking, and inventory management and asset additions and disposals through effective utilization of asset management software. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or advanced Business degree (MBA) preferred
• 3 years of operational, managerial focused accounting experience in manufacturing sector
• Comprehensive experience with an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system required
• Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ability to accurately apply the principles
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Excellent verbal and written skills
