DESCRIPTION:
This position entails the analysis, engineering, design, and support of various manufacturing projects within the Lake Shore division. The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a vital role in designing and specifying system components to ensure compliance with engineering best practices and performance standards. Responsibilities include developing standards for existing product lines and providing pre-sales, project, and aftermarket support.
As a mechanical design engineer at the Lakeshore division, you will have the opportunity to:
Demonstrate creativity and strategic thinking in problem-solving, developing standards, and defining project objectives.
Prepare and present project documents, including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
Design mechanical systems, structures, and components.
Collaborate with vendors to acquire off-the-shelf components.
Implement modifications to existing equipment, systems, structures, and components.
Review designs for fit, function, and accuracy.
Ensure compliance with safety standards.
Ensure the final solution meets both customer requirements and divisional standards.
Test and troubleshoot mechanical systems.
Travel intermittently, up to 25% as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree or higher in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
4 or more years of experience in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering; machine design experience is advantageous.
Strong project management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience with hoists or hydraulic and pneumatic systems is desirable.
Proficiency in Drawing Development, GD&T, Welding Specifications, Document Control, Structural Steel, and Steel Fabrication.
Preferred ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license within 2 years.
Experience with Autodesk Inventor/Vault preferred but not required.
