Position Details: The Communications Coordinator is responsible for helping to design and execute the firm’s strategy for raising awareness of one of the firm’s key integrated offerings (International Private Client) in addition to building a differentiated reputation of the firm overall. This role serves as a “managing editor,” planning and facilitating the creation, approval and distribution of communications content across external and internal channels, including emails, website, social media, and media relations. This candidate will work closely with the firm’s senior leadership, top lawyers and relevant product managers across the firm’s fifteen locations around the world to develop and implement communications strategies to meet clearly outlined goals and objectives. Supervisor: Reporting to the Global Communications Leader, this role will work in collaboration with the Marketing and wider Strategy teams as well as across the firm’s other administrative departments to implement all external initiatives. Primary Responsibilities: Communications Strategy and Editorial Planning: Strengthen Kobre & Kim’s brand externally by developing tailored communication strategies for the firm’s International Private Client offering and other product areas (Government Enforcement Defense; Investigations) in order to improve the firm’s reputation, communicate its distinctiveness and increase awareness and advocacy among new and targeted audiences Liaise with key business partners, including product managers, attorneys, and strategy leadership team, to align on objectives, risks/opportunities and plans Design and lead breakthrough content strategy, coordinating proactive, reactive and opportunistic content and media campaigns, including leading weekly editorial meetings, managing the content calendar, and helping to manage the resources of the overall team Writing and Editing: Collaborate with partners, principals, product group managers, and marketing/business development colleagues to identify industry trends, key case information/wins and newsworthy client work to advance the firm’s communications and content strategy Draft and edit written marketing materials such as emails, bylined articles, press releases, and website content Project manage the firm’s submissions of chapters to legal journals, including identifying and vetting potential opportunities, and identifying lawyers to serve as authors, and reviewing/editing final submissions Media Relations: Serve as a primary point of contact for the firm’s external PR firm, working directly with them to place content in key legal, trade and business publications Respond to press inquiries, pitch stories, and schedule interviews for attorneys Develop materials including messaging, talking points, backgrounders and FAQs in response to external inquiries from media Track relevant media, preparing and distributing weekly coverage reports to the full firm Provide media coaching and training for lawyers and senior administrative staff when needed Serve as media advisor to the firm’s Founding Partners and Senior Leadership Support the development and execution of the firm’s social media strategy Create reports to demonstrate the success of media campaigns, analyze results, report on key PR metrics, and findings. Use these metrics to drive future strategies in various cities and/or markets Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, PR, English, Communications, Business or related field preferred 2 to 3 years of professional experience, with a demonstrated track record of impact PR industry experience preferred, but not required. Level of experience and title are flexible. Legal industry experience not required Excellent written, editing, listening and verbal skills that reflect an ability to clarify and simplify technical and complex legal topics for a non‐attorney audience A strategic mindset, and ability to lead the development and execution of comprehensive plans tied to concrete business outcomes with minimal supervision Strong project management skills in order to multi‐task and manage multiple projects simultaneously from beginning to end Proven track record of managing an editorial calendar highly preferable Highly proactive and able to navigate ambiguity and complexity while developing successful solutions Ability to work in a fast‐paced environment and manage multiple, deadline‐driven projects with a keen attention to detail Demonstrated ability to establish strong working relationships with key internal & external stakeholders, including the media Proven ability in generating ideas, content and pitching a variety of media including national, local and trade print, broadcast and online Intellectually curious.
