The Staff Accountant is a critical component of the Accounting Team and shares responsibility for producing complete, accurate and timely financial statements. This position is responsible for month-end accounting functions, performing reconciliations, year-end reporting and supporting Accounts Payable activities.

Responsibilities:

• Accounting: Taking ownership of accounting of one or more international subsidiaries in accordance with US and local GAAP. This includes the month-end accounting and reconciliation process for such subsidiaries.
• Be the go to person for all accounting and financial matters for the allocated subsidiaries
• Owning the accounting checklist, producing reconciliations, flux analysis: both for income statements and balance sheets, and ensuring that review comments are cleared in a timely and appropriate manner
• Responsible for managing and recognizing prepaid expenses, fixed asset management for the assigned subsidiaries, and bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare and enter journal entries
• Review of the GL classification and department coding of vendor invoices/expenses
• Financial and tax reporting: Support in the preparation of financial statements and budgets as requested for such subsidiaries
• Support in internal and external audits as and when applicable
• Prepare data for tax reporting

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience
• Experience with GAAP accrual accounting a must
• Experience with Google Sheets and Docs
• Experience using NetSuite or equivalent ERP such as SAP
• Strong verbal and written English (knowledge of a second language which can be either Dutch, German, Portuguese, Japanese or Norwegian is desired)
• Ability to analyze data using excel or Google sheets
• Excellent time management and organization skills
• Must be very detail oriented
• Fluent in Portuguese
