We are seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist to join our patient-focused surgery center team in Portland, Maine. As a member of the surgical team, the Surgical Technologist works collaboratively with the Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, and the Registered Nurse in the operating room ensuring safe quality patient care.

Pay: From $20.44/hour. Full-time employees receive bonuses after 90 and 120 days of employment

Schedule: This position generally works four days per week from 6:30am-4:30 or 5pm for an average of a 9-10 hour day. Flexibility in schedule is occasionally needed in order to meet business goals and provide exceptional patient service.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrating knowledge regarding ocular surgery including ocular plastics
• Ensuring the patient is at the center of all work activities
• Practicing vigilant aseptic consciousness
• Preparing the operating room, opening sterile supplies, instruments, packs, and assuring sterile technique is maintained
• Anticipating the needs of the Surgeon and assisting as directed
• Assisting the surgical team with patient care and positioning
• Decontaminating, processing, and sterilizing surgical instrumentation
• Maintaining surgical equipment
• Reporting and troubleshooting defective equipment and supplies
• Assisting with restocking operating rooms
• Maintaining preference card accuracy
• Attending in-services

• Knowledge of sterile field and surgical awareness is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required as well as any one or more of the following: completion of a surgical technologist program, completion of a certified ophthalmic technician program, completion of a certified ophthalmic assistant program, completion of a medical assistant or CNA program or field experience in ophthalmic surgical procedures.
• BLS certification required
