Kingwood Crystal River Resort Corp is Hiring a Chief Engineer Near Crystal, FL

POSITION TITLE: Chief Engineer DEPARTMENT: Engineering

FLSA Status: Exempt/Salary 

POSITION REPORTS TO: Rooms Director 

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Maintenance Techs

POSITION PURPOSE

Oversees the physical facility and supervises maintenance and repairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Supervises and assists engineering staff in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, hotel rooms, A/C and heating, ice machine, swimming pools, lighting, kitchen equipment, refrigeration, laundry, emergency generators, switch rooms, etc.
  • Ensures all maintenance and repairs are completed on a timely, cost effective basis and according to specifications.
  • Orders necessary materials and tools for repairing equipment and keeps within budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintains an ongoing preventative maintenance program for the hotel.
  • Responsible for administering and documenting equipment preventative maintenance and guest room preventative maintenance.
  • Responsible for the safety of the department and the building.
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Follows company policies and procedures and is able to effectively communicate them to subordinates.
  • Aggressively recruits and staffs department using company hiring standards (i.e. behavioral questioning, reference checks, evaluations and team interviews). Reviews performances and assists in career development.
  • Conducts training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures and service guidelines.
  • Fulfills Manager on Duty shifts.
  • Ensures hotel is in compliance with all federal, state and local laws, including OSHA, EEOC, Wage Hour and Health laws.
  • Ensures all fire and safety inspections are completed and any discrepancies are corrected.

Note: Other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Graduate or equivalent

Two years college/vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering or plumbing. Minimum level 3 EPA Certification for refrigerant reclaim.

Valid Drivers’ License

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Six years work experience. Special consideration will be given to those who exhibit exemplary performance.

SKILLS/ABILITIES: Specialized technical crafts (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc)

Detail oriented.

Interpersonal skills.

Ability to train and lead others.

The major responsibility in this position is to supervise the staff and direct them on how to repair or fix something. This person must understand the technologies required in the work they are directing. 

A significant portion of time will be spent moving about the hotel and frequent lifting of up to 75 pounds and carrying of up to 25 pounds may be required.

Reading and writing abilities are utilized in order to document or record all tasks delegated and completed, to order supplies or to read equipment repair manuals.

Mathematical abilities, including basic math, volume, weight and percentages are utilized a significant portion of the time.

This person will need to be able to react quickly in emergency situations and make decisions that may involve a great amount of money or the safety of others.

WORKING CONDITIONS: May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Will be required to work in fast paced environment.
