We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer Manager for our Modesto, California office!

Summary: Maintenance engineers' work involves checking, repairing and servicing machinery, equipment, systems and infrastructures. Maintenance engineer will ensure that industrial machinery and equipment runs smoothly and reliably. Ensure safe and efficient operations are maintained and KPI’s are achieved.

This position is does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities.

He/She will remain on the floor actively working tasks with the Maintenance team, share techniques, give advice and make sure tasks are being completed efficiently. 

- will be responsible for individuals who require additional support (apprentice) and make sure safe work is actively being pursued (LOTTO, hot works etc.)

- coordinate with Supervisors in Production to allocate time for daily tasks. 

- will continue to drive ongoing improvements within the department.

- help build, and drive Shire (inventory, equipment data, asset tagging, SOP’s etc.) on a day to day keeping a steady flow of activities for the Technicians.

This roll will report to the Engineering Manager, who will support the Maintenance Engineer and team with all of the above. 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards
  • Hire, train, motivate and supervise Maintenance employees
  • Attend and participate in meetings, seminars and training sessions as required
  • Budget working with the Engineering Manager and senior management team
  • Manage project and Capex work as required
  • Maintain discipline, monitor attendance and appraise performance
  • Recommend promotion, salary adjustments, disciplinary action and termination
  • Ensure department personnel practices conform to the Kingspan policies and programs
  • Conducting and overseeing maintenance process audits
  • Develop, implement and keep up to date Standard Operating Procedures and Risk assessments for all relevant activities
  • Ensure production hours are always covered by maintenance
  • Forecasting and strategic planning for system overhauls and upgrades, while taking into account long-term maintenance costs.
  • Ensuring that machinery, systems, infrastructure, and equipment run optimally with minimal downtime
  • Responding to major equipment breakdowns
  • Using a CMMS system, undertake predictive, preventative and planned maintenance.
  • Source 3rd parties to complete work as necessary and within budget
  • Procuring, testing, and commissioning specialist components, fixtures, or fittings
  • Effectively lead subordinate supervisors and employees in the field
  • Setting and tracking maintenance KPI's reporting as required
  • Maintain a safe and clean workplace
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as required

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Four-year college degree and 1-2 years’ experience in a leadership role or eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical operations
  • Strong ability to use power and hand tools
  • Supply chain management skills
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must be able to speak and understand written English.
  • Must understand technical and mechanical language.

Computer Skills:

  • Must be highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Outlook.

Other Skills and Requirements:

  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Maintenance engineer can expect to work 40 hours a week. Although, on occasion, they could be asked to work outside of business hours (on weekends, public holidays, etc). Overtime work is a shared among all maintenance staff.
  • Maintenance engineers in plants and facilities that run their operations 24/7 may have to work shifts that cover nights, weekends, and early mornings. The pace of work can vary and will often spike when there is a push to meet production deadlines or to quickly resolve breakdown emergencies.

Salary range: $70,000-$90,000/year
