Kimley-Horn is Hiring a Traffic Engineer Near Las Vegas, NV

Overview

Kimley-Horn, one of FORTUNE Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For,” is looking for a motivated Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning and Traffic Operations (TPTO) team in our Las Vegas, NV office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage large, complex, and multi-disciplinary transportation planning tasks.
  • Mentor and develop staff, provides leadership in an environment that encourages teamwork, initiative, and growth.
  • Lead project outreach activities including guiding the direction of stakeholder and public engagement, giving presentations, meeting with stakeholders, community members, businesses, and organizations to explain the project scope, impacts, benefits, mitigations, etc.
  • Collaborate with agencies and municipal clients on complex planning and project delivery challenges.
  • Conduct public presentations including stakeholder meetings, community meetings, board meetings, and city council meetings.
  • Perform project management duties such as managing large tasks and projects, performing research, report writing, leading stakeholder or public involvement meetings and maintaining client relations in support of road safety projects.
  • Develop schedules, review invoices, manage progress reports, prepare scopes, and track budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Master's preferred)
  • 4 years of transportation design and/or planning experience
  • AICP accreditation, or P.E. license or the ability to obtain one within 6-months
  • Experience with evaluating causal issues related to fatal and serious injury crashes and the selection and implementation of safety countermeasures for Engineers, Law Enforcement, Educators, and Emergency Response
  • A strong passion for working on innovative projects that improve traffic safety in the community
  • Strong knowledge of planning principles related to transportation
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Experience in transportation planning project work such as safety analysis, complete streets, pedestrian and bicycle planning
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with stakeholder outreach, community engagement, planning annual events/conferences, coordinating logistics for stakeholder meetings, providing presentations to public officials and communication with a variety of individuals
  • Outgoing, self-motivated team player
  • Ability to work with and balance priorities among multiple projects and project managers
