Kidron Bethel Village is Hiring a CMA Near North Newton, KS

Position Overview

Under the direction and supervision of the Charge Nurse, the CMA is responsible to administer oral and topical medications, excluding hypodermic injections, and provide direct resident nursing care. The CMA functions as a member of a team and assists in delivering resident care as outlined in residents Plan of Care.

Staff’s roll in resident choices:

  • Recognizes residents as unique individuals
  • Makes residents aware that they can make requests about their daily routines and how they relate to others
  • Offers residents personal control over their own lives as directed by the person-centered plan
  • Enhances residents wellness and independence whenever possible
  • Takes responsibility for personal decisions and choices that affect resident’ choice
  • Value and strive to honor each community member’s choices

Essential Job Functions

  • Administer medications and simple treatments as ordered by the resident’s physician in accordance with Policy and Procedure
  • Set up and administer oral PRN medications ordered by the physician; psychotropic prn’s are only given after checking with Charge Nurse
  • Clean medication trays and treatment cart, and room at the end of each shift
  • Chart all medications and treatments given on resident’s Medication Administration Record (MAR)/Treatment Sheet immediately after administration
  • Make new medication and treatment cards as needed
  • Record and check in medications received from the pharmacy
  • Report any medication errors to the Charge Nurse immediately
  • Insure adequate stocked supplies for medication and treatment administration for oncoming shift
  • Inform Charge Nurse of any problems/unusual happenings needing physician notification
  • Assist residents to and from activities and hairdresser
  • Initiate activities with residents in groups or one-on-one
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Certified Medication Aide in Kansas
  • If working in Special Care area, has completed appropriate training program
