Director of Clinical Operations

Kidney Specialists of Southern Nevada (KSOSN) provides comprehensive kidney care and a full spectrum of kidney disease management resources for residents of Southern Nevada. Our care team educates and empowers patients who are living with kidney pain, infections, stones, and other kidney problems. With this exciting opportunity you will be joining a seasoned team of 50 Physicians and Advanced Practitioners, as well as 70 team members across eight office locations. We are looking for a dynamic Director of Clinical Operations to join our growing team.

Position Summary

The Director of Clinical Operations will drive the implementation of back office policies and procedures by providing administrative, operational and management support, with primary duties and responsibilities related to but not limited to efficiency improvement, patient satisfaction, accessibility to care, budgetary targets and meeting department goals, as well as overseeing individual clinic compliance with federal, state and county regulatory requirements, plus those of insurers.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Management of ongoing assessment, development, and implementation of systems to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  2. Development and implementation of operational protocols in compliance with operational policies.
  3. Oversee all back office operations which includes assessment and evaluation of procedures, utilization, quality control, staffing, training, inventory and maintenance of equipment.
  4. Provide direct supervision to clinic supervisors, train staff, evaluate job performance
  5. Meet regularly with the COO to communicate status of back office operations.
  6. Facilitate clinical operations meetings
  7. Responds to patient grievances, patient incidents, etc.
  8. Ensure all required trainings are completed to meet OSHA and audit requirements.
  9. Establish and maintain tracking systems to monitor progress towards operational goals.
  10. Responsible for ensuring that all locations are operating efficiently and effectively, meeting operational, business, and organizational objectives.
  11. Ensure that objectives, goals, quotas, and outcomes are met; these include, but are not limited to:
    • daily productivity
    • customer service
    • patient satisfaction
    • scheduling
    • staff issues and turnover
    • clinician issues
    • IT issues
    • general operational issues
    • appointment availability
    • overtime
    • facility walk-through
    • staff development
  12. Assure that all patients are reminded on the day before their scheduled appointment.
  13. Periodically review registration paperwork to assure that all charts, forms and reports are available prior to the patient visit; ensure that staff is assessing patient eligibility for programs and assigns staff to assist patients with paperwork to determine which programs benefit the patient
  14. Maintain knowledge in all aspects of the clinic operations and the duties of all staff.

Minimum Requirements:

  3. Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Admin, Business, Nursing or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  4. Minimum eight (8) years of healthcare operations experience, with increasing responsibilities required.
  5. Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience managing a team of 20 medical assistants required.
  6. Experience managing a multi-site operation required.
  7. Experience working in private medical practice preferred.
  8. Strong personal presence with ability to command respect through exercise of sound business judgment and clear decision-making.
  9. Excellent communication skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing.
  10. Extremely organized, strong project management skills are a must
  11. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize multiple request
  12. High level of accountability, proven track record of taking ownership and solving problems
  13. Ability to take initiative, communicate effectively and be an active and receptive listener
  14. Proven ability to build teams and foster a positive and collaborative work environment
