RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Reston, VA that is seeking a Database Engineer.
Summary:
We're seeking an EMS Database Modeling Engineer who is motivated by variety, is seeking a challenging environment for professional growth, and is interested in supporting large information technology projects for one of our clients. In this role, the Database Engineer will develop and maintain EMS system models (i.e. power flow, state estimator, and network topology), coordinate operating models and modeling data with PJM and neighboring utilities, maintain accurate records of analyses, data, and calculations. They will support commissioning and pre-commissioning of new substations by supporting RTU point to point checkouts by working with field personnel during commissioning of new stations/points. The Database Engineer will support maintenance of EMS one lines synchronized with field changes in the EMS Databases.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems/Computer Science or equivalent experience; 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
* 10 years of experience of relevant experience
* Experience in SCADA/EMS/Operator Training Simulator (OTS) system architecture, design, development, testing and deployment
* Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite
* Must possess the ability to read applicable technical documents and/or schematics
* Familiarity with Linux operating environment, Linux shells, standard utilities
* Experience with all administrative functions related to high available/critical, redundant, and real-time systems
* Knowledge of communication technologies (e.g., network protocols, LAN/WAN, and Fiber networks), SCADA protocols
* Demonstrated multitasking ability, problem solving skills and a consistent record of on time delivery and customer service
* Self-driven and have demonstrated the ability to work independently with minimum guidance
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
