Kett Engineering is looking for a Diesel Mechanic to work on the Proving Grounds in New Carlisle IN. The Mechanic will work with New Product Development to support product validation on our operations team.

3rd shift: 11:30pm - 8:00am

The individual will work closely with test engineers to support a wide range of prototype build and validation activities at the proving grounds.

The group prepares, maintains, troubleshoots, inspects, and tests prototype and current product class 5-8 trucks at NPG, as well as a wide range of customer test articles including motorhomes, RVs, utility trailers, delivery vehicles, EVs, and more.

The candidate will be required to perform all job duties safely and efficiently with minimal supervision, as well as maintain detailed and accurate documentation, and consistently keep work areas clean and organized.

This position requires the candidate to work overtime as needed and occasional weekends.

Desired Skills

* Mechanic experience working on medium and heavy duty commercial vehicles

* Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in the use of air and power tools

* Diagnostic capability and repair of all major vehicle systems

* Ability to read and follow electrical schematics

* Ability to read and perform diagnostic troubleshooting procedures

* Metal fabrication skills including welding, forming, assembly, and repair

* Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs

* Ability to work with minimal supervision

* Effective written and verbal communication skills

* Competent with using a computer along with MS Office apps (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), diagnostic software familiarity a plus

* Supervisory experience a plus
