Kemin is Hiring a Process Engineer Near Des Moines, IA

Overview

Kemin is currently seeking a Process Engineer to join our Corporate Engineering team in Des Moines, IA!

The Process Engineer will lead projects and design processes. This includes development of new facilities, processes, and integration of acquisitions. The position will be responsible to supply operations directors in Des Moines, IA primarily (but could support other US sites and potentially global operations) with engineering expertise and analysis to achieve project design and execution along with process optimization. This position will also lead continual development of standards of excellence and share best practices for engineering excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Experience with developing mass and energy balance, PFDs, P&IDs, batch cycle times, equipment/instrument data-sheets and specifications, and layouts material/people flow.
  • Generate process descriptions.
  • Develop control logic for operations.
  • Work closely with engineering firms/construction managers to ensure adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Assist senior engineers in commissioning effort, startup plans and provide startup support.
  • Review equipment vendor selection and submittal drawings.
  • Inspect field installations.
  • Collaborate with WW engineering group on projects and provide expertise, guidance, and recommendations on global projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Chemical or Mechanical preferred. 
  • 1 – 3 years of process design experience (EPC, food/feed/life science industry preferred)
  • Flexible to work on multiple projects at one time and work with operations on regular basis for process optimization.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with ability to understand process/equipment needs and potential issues
