The physician should be able to independently administer and interpret routine and special diagnostic tests in an expedient and professional manner. Candidate should also be able to effectively collaborate with referring physicians and other professionals to provide optimum care for each patient. Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. Assess, diagnose, treat, and help to prevent communication and swallowing disorders in children and adults. SLPs will work as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, which may physicians, audiologists, and ENT physicians.
