Linux Systems Administrator

Location: Lexington, MA (100% Onsite)

Duration: 12 – 24 months

Clearance: Active Secret clearance required

The ideal candidate for this role is a highly skilled Linux Systems Administrator with extensive experience in supporting classified enterprise networks, particularly in managing satellite infrastructure and ensuring STIG compliance. They should possess strong scripting abilities, a deep understanding of Linux systems, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, coupled with excellent communication and collaboration skills within a team environment.

Job Description:

The Linux Systems Administrator will play a crucial role in supporting the Laboratory's enterprise classified computing infrastructure, including two large classified enterprise networks. Working within a team of 11 individuals, the candidate will primarily focus on Linux systems administration and maintenance, serving as one of two Linux admins. Responsibilities include managing and maintaining the classified computing environment, performing day-to-day care tasks such as patching, and supporting satellite infrastructure for both networks, which rely on satellite communication due to their closed environment. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in supporting HA proxy and upgrading infrastructure from Splunk 7 to Splunk 8.

Skills to Look For:

Experience with Satellite to support Linux systems, including managing upgrades in a classified environment.

Familiarity with Ansible and understanding of automation concepts.

Proficiency in package development and deployment (rpm, yum, dnf).

Strong scripting skills in one of the three languages listed (bash/shell, Python, Perl).

Experience supporting RHEL 7/8 workstations and servers.

Strong overall network skills, including package captures, NIC latency tuning, firewall configuration, and TCP/UDP/IP protocols.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Excellent customer service, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

Security certification or ability to obtain it within 6 months of employment.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant technical field.

Preferred:

Experience with Ansible Automation Platform for supporting Linux systems.

Familiarity with DevSecOps environments and tools.

Experience supporting software deployment on Linux.

Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably in classified environments.

Experience with the Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI) process.

Please note that this position requires 100% onsite work due to the nature of the tasks involved. Remote flexibility may be considered on a case-by-case basis, but regular remote workdays are not available. Candidates must have an active Secret clearance to be considered for this position.
