Kelly Cable of New Mexico is Hiring an Equipment Operator Near Glorieta, NM

Equipment Operator Job Description:

This is a critical support position for a busy utility construction company operating throughout New Mexico. As an Equipment Operator, daily work will involve placement of fiber optic and copper or power cables, conduits, enclosures, vaults, cabinets, poles and related equipment. Most of the work is underground/excavation projects.

Equipment Operator Responsibilities/Duties:

· Competent in operating backhoes and mini excavators

· Competent in operating tampers, compactors and demo saws

· Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions

· Analyze job locations for utility line, permitting, and traffic control in order to complete construction activities without quality defects, safety incidents or any type of property damage

· Complete daily inspections and reporting of maintenance issues on vehicles, trailers and equipment

· Operate all vehicles, equipment and tools while adhering to company safety standards

· Works efficiently to achieve a high level of productivity daily

· Understand and follow specific oral and written instructions

· Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team

· Good interpersonal and communication skills

· Willingness and ability to learn additional skills

Our Company:

We have been in business in New Mexico for nearly 30 years. We perform work for a variety of communications, power, and fiber optic and data/cell providers. We have 7 offices throughout New Mexico and an office in El Paso, TX.

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: Operators/Laborers report to headquarters at 7-8am. Typical day could include an 8-10-hour shift Monday-Friday. On-call rotation is required.

Pay: Based on Experience. Paid Bi-weekly. Hourly employee.

Job Qualifications:

· 2-3 years of equipment operation experience including Backhoes, Vermeer’s, etc.

· 3-5 years of experience in the construction, underground or telecom industry

· Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, grasp, push, pull and reach on a frequent basis throughout the day. Must be able to lift-up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis

· Time management skills

· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

· Required to travel out of town to work on projects of varying length approximately 10% of the time

· CDL Class A license with tanker endorsement preferred

· Valid DOT Medical Card required
