Position Description
Position: Steward
Reports To: Executive Chef
Department: Kitchen
Position Summary:
Responsible for receiving and storing all food and supplies deliveries ensuring product accuracy, quality, zoning and rotation. Also responsible for assisting in the general cleanliness of the storage area and back of house. Assists the Prep Cook and/or Dishwasher duties as directed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive deliveries, accurately read and compare order to the purchase order and product invoices checking for discrepancies, quality, and safety.
- Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment necessary to do the job.
- Ability to effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction.
- Ability to calmly and effectively handle a busy, stressful environment where change will occur frequently.
- Work in confined, crowded spaces of variable noise and temperature levels
- Able to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, including stairs, and uneven or slick surfaces.
- Available to work a variety of hours, days, shifts, including weekends.
Qualifications:
- Maintain product quality and safety standards
- Reject any product not meeting quality and safety standards making a notation on the invoice
- Accurately use a thermometer and scale
- Store deliveries following standard zoning procedures, rotating all perishable items using the “first in, first out” storage method
- Inventory supplies and indicate needs to Management assigned
- Organize and clean cabinets, coolers, and other storage areas, assist in maintaining general cleanliness throughout back of house
- Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
- Follow all rules, policies, procedures, and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Keiser Golf Employee Handbook
- Get along with co-workers, vendors, and others throughout Sand Valley
- Other duties will be assigned as needed
Working Conditions:
Typical office setting with overheard lighting and adjustable ventilation. This individual may be exposed from time to time to inclement weather; potentially dangerous pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers; equipment movement hazards; misdirected golf balls. Injury may result as a result of exposure to the above if safety policies and practices are not properly followed at all times.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to:
- Read and write (English)
- Communicate verbally with staff members with or without the use of two-way radios.
- Give and/or follow verbal and written instructions
- Visually inspect all work areas
- Operate vehicles and equipment for several hours at a time
- Perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Retrieve, read and interpret information from technical sources
- Stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend and kneel for scheduled shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 25 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly
