7650 Nuclear Medicine-KHMCThis position will be a working supervisor for the Nuclear Medicine department at both Kaweah Health Medical Center and Kaweah Health Diagnostic Center. Oversees all activities for the Nuclear Medicine Department technical support staff. Responsible for staff productivity, quality, and overall performance. Responsible for staffing all covered shifts.License /Certification Required:CA Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) BLS Preferred:ARRT(N) or NMTCBEducation Required:N/A Preferred:Associate's degreeTesting N/AExperience Required:Five years of experience working in a hospital based Nuclear Medicine department Preferred:Previous leadership experienceKnowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to lead and coach employees.Department Specific Requirements N/A Essential Prepares isotope kits, calculates doses and logs information according to policy and state regulations. Scans patient using the computer and/or camera according to physician's order. Injects patient with proper radiopharmaceutical agent according to physician's order, using sterile technique. Logs all necessary patient information according to policy. Receives, stores and disposes of radioactive isotopes according to policy and state regulations. Measures the radioactive dosage prescribed for a patient with a dose calibrator. Performs all quality control/quality assurance studies as necessary according to procedure, and as directed by the Radiology Operational Review Committee. Sets up machinery/equipment for changing collimation. Maintains records required by federal, state and The Joint Commission regulations. Maintains current Basic Life Support certification. Obtains and records all pertinent clinical information prior to examinations. Prevents cross contamination, using appropriate means. Adjusts technical factors to accommodate the age, body habitus, disease process and condition of each patient. Responsible for interviewing and hiring competent staff. Provides orientation, in-services and continuing education for staff. Schedules employee work hours, vacation, and holiday time. Responsible for staffing during hours of operation. Ensures overtime is used only when there is an emergency and documents it well. Processes payroll and checks all Labor Distribution reports for hours worked by staff. If necessary processes payroll corrections with manager's approval. Conducts staff performance evaluations in a timely manner, which include peer, and self-evaluations. Ensures that all mandatory tests and certifications are up to date. Identifies problems and pursues opportunities for improvement using creativity and innovation. Develops network both internally and externally. Promotes teamwork in problem solving; develops consensus; provides other with feeling of ownership and recognition in their proposals. Knows how to persist without alienating anyone to find a solution that is in the interest of all parties with the organization. Provides department staff with information regarding updates and changes. Holds bi-monthly team meetings to discuss departmental success, problems, Kaweah Health goals, events, strategies, policies and benefits. Informs staff members of Kaweah Health activities. Is aware of staff productivity and quality and coaches and counsels staff when appropriate. Provides coaching and progressive discipline as appropriate. Ensures preventative maintenance is done on time and log books are kept in chronological order to assure equipment always in ready condition. Notifies physician and or nursing upon modification, rescheduling, or canceling of exam as necessary. Able to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, physicians' office staff, and Kaweah Health staff members. Maintains good relationships and cooperation with other departments, patients, families and physicians and their staff. Portrays department positively to all. Ensures that all efforts provide value to and meet the needs of departmental customers. Consistently operates as a productive member of a supportive and cooperative service department. Understands the importance of customer service and readily identifies departmental customers and their needs. Directs all efforts to meet customer needs in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner. Proactive and critically analyzes and evaluates departmental processes and products and makes continuous improvements. Consistently strives to enhance and add value to individual and departmental efforts through increased efficiency, productivity and quality.Addendum (essential for specific dept)Additional Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. 15. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care. Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay Range
$106,537.60 - $159,827.20
