KARL STORZ ENDOSCOPY is Hiring a Maintenance Mechanic Near Goleta, CA

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic will manage and perform all preventative and corrective maintenance on all machines according to the manufacturer and maintain operation of machines at full capacity.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning, scheduling, and coordination of all maintenance actions aimed at the prevention of breakdowns and failures of equipment in the Machine Shop.
  • Responsible for safe condition of all machine shop machine equipment
  • Will repair all Machine Shop equipment (CNC Multi axis and Robots) break downs and validate per OEM specification
  • Will coordinate internal and external repair/service activities
  • Maintains records on equipment, services, and work hours expended
  • Develops, controls, and maintains required documentation
  • Will educate operation personal in maintenance management
  • Conduct necessary testing on new equipment installations
  • Work with vendors and OEM’s to insure use of equipment in within specifications
  • Responsible for implementation of spare part inventory system, creating data bank for spare parts and supplier information
  • Responsible for ordering needed spare parts for scheduled PM and establishing spare part inventory of critical equipment parts
  • Works closely with Purchasing to ensure supply of repair parts are available to execute PM
  • Ensures the preservation and enhancement of equipment reliability by replacing worn components before they actually fail, recording deterioration to facilitate the replacement or repair of worn parts before they cause system failure
  • Spearheads any containment, correction, and corrective action activities associated with preventive maintenance activities. Provides timely and effective communications to affected personnel.
  • Responsible for the effective implementation and maintenance of the Preventive Maintenance protocols and records in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • May assist in operational problems.
  • Regular attendance is an essential job function.
  • Will spend part of his/her time as a member of continual improvement teams undertaking projects and seeking ways to improve the quality of KSI’s products and services.
  • Implements lean techniques in the area of responsibility
  • Responsible for continuous improvement activities, implementing and driving a TPM culture
  • Responsible for pareto analysis
  • May be required to work overtime and/or weekends to meet the company’s operational needs 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of OSHA and other FED/State rules and regulations including environmental
  • Must be able to read engineering blueprints, (electric, mechanic, hydraulic) follow documented instructions.
  • Troubleshooting of mechanical and/or electronic problems on production machinery, disassemble, replace parts and reassemble machinery
  • Demonstrated ability to work with PLC programs
  • Proficient in the use of math in the interpretation and execution of drawing requirements.
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in technical documentation
  • Solid mechanical and mathematical aptitude essential
  • Must be a Team Player
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of medical device quality system regulations and standards (eg, U.S. FDA Quality System Regulation 21CFR Part 820, ISO13485, ISO9001)

Education and Experience

  • Minimum high school/GED required.
  • Experience working as a Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical
  • TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) certification a plus
  • SAP experience preferred
