Position Summary: Communications Manager
The Communications Manager position reports to the Administrative Director in the Health Plan Administrative section of the State Employee Health Benefits Program (SEHBP).
The primary duties and responsibilities of the position consist of the following:
Proactively collaborate with SEHBP staff to message the benefits and coverage provided by the State Employee Health Plan and State Self Insurance Fund. The candidate will work with staff to gain an understanding of the SEHBP programs. Anticipate program needs for communications which include preparing emails and newsletters for different audiences, preparing Open Enrollment books, emails, videos, and webinars in collaboration with staff.
Leads the management, oversight, and support for the SEHBP website. Assures that content and information are regularly updated and clear to read; outdated or irrelevant information is removed in a timely fashion. Collaborates with the leadership team on website requirements.
Proactively manage their time and projects to meet completion deadlines, with particular emphasis on projects impacting Open Enrollment communications. Manages the creation of informational materials and regular communications with SEHP members with an emphasis on promoting program engagement and understanding of the benefits/options of the plan, as well as the wellness initiatives and programs.
Assists the Director and SEHP staff with communications and preparing meeting materials, minutes, and meeting coordination for the Health Care Commission. Assures that documents and other materials are delivered to members and the leadership team in an organized and timely manner, issuing reminders as needed. Works to ensure that all communications are accurate, proofread and ADA compliant. Assists with preparing responses on various questions and other topics that may arise upon request from the Director.
Assists with communications related to the planning and coordinating of special events and webinars including but not limited to the Wellness Program, SSIF department, Open Enrollment, and other meetings as needed. Works cooperatively with SEHBP staff and vendor partner communication/marketing personnel to stay abreast of upcoming campaigns, changes etc. Work with vender partners on the preparation and hosting of videos for Open Enrollment on the SEHP website.
Develops and maintains an up-to-date marketing and communications plan and calendar for the division; provides regular updates and progress reports to the leadership team. The SEHBP Communications Manager will coordinate with the Department of Administration Director of Public Affairs regularly to ensure message consistency.
Regularly reviews and facilitates drafting responses to questions/concerns that come into the division from various sources including but not limited to US mail, email from other state agencies and the legislature, lending expertise and making appropriate recommendations on content, grammar, and tone.
