 The PART-TIME Benefits Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administrative activities of the Human Resources department, with a focus on benefits administration. Annually, the benefits specialist will take the lead in the implementation and maintenance of new and changing employee benefits during open enrollment. Additional responsibilities include, HR support for the consultancy, workshop, and On Site Services employees as well as other project and program support duties as needed. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Benefits Support (50%)
• Serves as the subject matter expert for benefits. Maintains and updates ADP to reflect vendor contracts. Ensures that all benefit vendor transitions work interdependently with one another to promote user friendly employee experience.
• Leads implementation of benefit changes at open enrollment and during individual qualifying events.
• Serves as “Tier 1” support for general benefits questions from employees.
• Uses critical thinking skills to solve any interface issues between benefits vendors
• Completes payroll updates for John Hancock retirement plan for new hire enrollments and contribution changes.
• Administrates the Tuition Reimbursement benefit to employees, including review and approval of submissions and reimbursement payouts.
2. Onboarding Support (40%)
• Conducts meetings in person and/or over the phone with each new hire.
• Orients employees into the ADP system at hire.
• Ensures employees complete required sign-offs and training at hire.
• Assists new hires with benefits questions and enrollment.
• Schedules and manages welcome schedule for consultancy new hires.
• Completes data entry of PTO and other fields into ADP as needed
3. Administrative Support (10%)
• Reviews and approves time off requests in Deltek, including sick time, COVID leave, and bereavement leave.
• Maintains labor law postings and updates as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
• Knowledge and skills at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
• 3 years of related experience in benefits administration
• Experience with ADP is preferable
• PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
Skills/Specialized Knowledge/Abilities
• Previous experience with ADP
• Previous experience with Anthem, WX, MetLife and John Hancock

Office hours are 24 hours per week – may require additional hours periodically, including evenings and weekends depending on business need
Travel
• Minimal, less than 5% of the time
Physical & Mental Demands
• Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long period of time
• Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time
• Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment
• Light lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.
• Ability to speak to and hear employees/clients via phone or in person
• Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move around the office environment
• Ability to analyze sourcing data, benefits, and other reports and make recommendations
• Additional Mental Requirements: compare, decide, direct, problem solve, analyze, instruct, interpret
