Description

Job Title/Department: Part-Time Human Resources Assistant (20 hours per week)

Employee Classification: Exempt / Part-Time

Location: Lyndhurst, Ohio

Summary

Julie Billiart Schools is a network of schools serving children grades K-8 with special learning challenges. Currently we have campuses in Akron, Lyndhurst and Westlake that offer unique learning environments for students with autism, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, specific learning deficiencies and social learning challenges. We are Catholic, non-public schools that welcome diverse faith traditions.

Job Purpose

The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for Human Resources tasks that support the human resources functions at Julie Billiart Schools.

Duties and Responsibilities

The following is a list of primary duties and responsibilities. Other duties to be assigned as needed. Supervision Received

Reports to and is evaluated by the Human Resources Manager. 

Human Resources

Employee Benefits

  • Manages the benefits enrollment process including benefits changes, terminations, etc.
  • Allocates and reconciles monthly benefits including health insurance, life insurance, workers compensation, and unemployment compensation.

Contracts

  • Drafts annual contracts for new hires and returning employees for all Julie Billiart campuses under the direction of the Human Resources Manager.
  • Drafts Beyond Camp contracts for camp employees under the direction of the Human Resources Manager.

Onboarding

  • Assists Human Resources Manager with onboarding new employees including entering information into the human resources module of the payroll system
  • Assists Human Resources Manager with fingerprinting new and established employees

Hiring

  • Assists with interview schedule, scheduling interviews and sending pre-established communications to interview candidates under the direction of the Human Resources Manager. 

Administrative

  • Creates employee personnel and medical files
  • Creates HR job files 
  • Ensure all records are compliant with EEOC guidelines
  • Archive HR documents per the record retention federal and state established regulations
  • Filing of documents as needed

Professional Development

  • Participates in continuing education and professional development and other training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to the assignment

Performs other tasks and duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the HR Manager. 

Requirements

Education, Experience and Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business –related field from an accredited institution is a plus.

Experience

Required:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in accounting, payroll, benefits administration and/or human resources. 
  • Current knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Working Conditions

The work of this class is generally sedentary and performed in an office environment. Requires the use of computers and other office equipment.
