Joywell Foods is Hiring a Senior HR Generalist (People Leader) Near Davis, CA

Role Description

In partnership with the senior leadership at Oobli, the People Leader will help Oobli bring to life our company values & culture while playing a key role in delivering HR programs to employees, facilitating processes & managing the day-to-day operations of the HR function. This position will report to the CEO, CFO or General Counsel, as the company grows.

Role & Responsibilities

  • HR Operations
    • Plans & executes activities related to the processing of payroll including time & attendance, applying payroll changes, facilitating the review & approval of payroll with Finance, assisting employees & managers with their payroll questions & requests.
    • Administers benefit programs & related compliance activities, while serving as primary contact with providers & employees; ensures a smooth enrollment process for new hires & annual open enrollment.
    • Maintains employee & organizational data in HRIS & other systems; provides necessary reporting to the organization; maintains employee files according to requirements & record retention; keeps job descriptions & employee agreements up-to-date, accurate & compliant.
    • Administer any leave of absence for qualifying employees, including FMLA, Military, STD, LTD & Worker’s Compensation.
  • Employee Experience
    • Facilitate the employee onboarding process to ensure the employee has a positive experience & has all the training & equipment to operate effectively within the company & role.
    • Support & administer employee engagement & culture programs.
    • Coordinate the exit process including communication with the employee regarding the exit process, processing the change with all necessary vendors & conducting exit interviews.
  • Talent Acquisition
    • Manage the talent acquisition process including develop position criteria with the hiring manager, post jobs & source candidates, review & screen candidates, schedule interviews & prepare offer letters.
    • Facilitate pre-employment process to include background & reference checks.
  • Talent Management & Development
    • Implements the performance management process to ensure all employees understand how their role contributes to achieving company goals, receive regular feedback & are actively developing new skills, knowledge & experiences. Assist managers through employee performance improvement process.
    • In partnership with Oobli managers, identify leadership, supervisor & professional development needs & secure training opportunities through third parties or conduct training internally.
    • Administers compensation programs & processes in alignment with the total compensation strategy. This includes activities such as external benchmarking & market pricing, FLSA evaluation, annual merit review process, incentive plans & pay equity.
  • Policies & Compliance
    • Monitor & keep current the employee handbook & employment related policies to ensure they are compliant.
    • Work with managers & employees to comply with the employee handbook & employment related policies.
    • Provide counsel, assistance & problem- resolution to employees at all levels, guided by company policies, labor-law legislation & state and federal agency requirements. 
    • Handles investigation & resolution of employee issues, concerns & conflicts.

Professional Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources, Business or equivalent program; Professional HR certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
  • 5-7 years of work experience in Human Resources.
  • Prior experience with payroll, benefits, HRIS systems & compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a diverse & inclusive environment where everyone feels welcomed, included & valued.
  • Demonstrated experience creating a culture of engagement, collaboration & teamwork across a diverse group of employees both in Davis & with our remote team members. 
  • Advanced user of computer applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Google suite, & HRIS systems. Experience with Gusto Benefits, Bamboo &/or similar growth-company SaaS platforms is preferred.
