Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Journal Technologies - Los Angeles, CA or Logan, UT
Who we are & what we do
At Journal Technologies, we believe our technology can be a force for good in the world ensuring the proper and efficient functioning of some of the most foundational aspects of society - the courts and justice system.
We create and implement enterprise software that supports the administration of justice, currently in the United States, Canada, and Australia. While our eSeries product suite enables governments and their employees to deliver continued foundational court processes, our R&D focuses on leveraging emerging possibilities with technology to improve access and efficiency.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, Journal Technologies is a long-time, wholly-owned subsidiary of Daily Journal Corporation (NASDAQ: DJCO). We also have a major office in Logan, Utah, a team in Melbourne, Australia, and a growing number of remote staff (yes, we've fully-embraced remote work) across North America and the world.
Under our next generation of leadership, we're implementing a new vision for the company that prioritizes building an extraordinary workplace with empowered people at the heart of our business. Great people want to collaborate with great people, and we are actively looking for smart, motivated people who care deeply about the work they do.
The Role
As we embark on this next phase, we are seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer armed with vision and best practices to help build our next generation SaaS hosting model for our customers. The engineer plays a strategic role on a growing team, designing, deploying and maintaining secure cloud systems that serve justice agencies across the United States, Canada, Australia and beyond.
The successful candidate will bring their expertise with automated deployments to a small team of application specialists and system administrators to develop tools and processes that automate our AWS infrastructure and software lifecycles. This includes everything from building configuration management solutions for the installation and management of software on existing servers to utilizing provisioning tools like Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
Being a small team, we're not looking for a one-trick pony. The successful candidate will be agile across the team's day-to-day operations, helping to resolve networking issues, configure AWS account settings, triage networking issues, etc. We value individuals who are comfortable operating with a high level of autonomy while taking ownership over and accountability for the delivery of project objectives. At JTI, our people and their excellence and intentionality in delivering systems that tangibly support the administration of justice are at the heart of our value as a company. We trust our people to spread their wings, reach beyond the scope of the day-to-day, and achieve their best work.
While there are obviously certain thresholds, if you don't yet have extensive prior experience with certain dimensions of this role, don't despair. Curiosity and a voracious appetite for research, learning, and application go a long way.
