Jones-Harrison is currently seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to join our team! The DON is responsible for providing overall management and operation of nursing services while providing superb leadership to the nursing staff and partnering with the administrator to help drive the overall success of the facility.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide strategic leadership for resident care in the community by working with each department to coordinate care and services that promote resident's quality of life.
  • Direct the operations of the Nursing department, including supervision and development of staff to promote the health and wellness of the resident population
  • Ensure the completion of all required documentation and charting on the computer or on forms in an accurate and timely manner according to policies and procedures
  • Facilitate care conference meetings and participate in IDT (Interdisciplinary Team) meetings as needed
  • Act as an advocate to maintain residents’ privacy and dignity during cares
  • Provide nursing leadership to Administrator and department heads to formulate operational strategies and achieve facility objectives.
  • Use knowledge of professional standards of nursing practice, consistent with facility philosophy of care, staff policies and adult education principles
  • Create, develop, maintain, and update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department
  • Supervise and support nursing personnel to assure continuity of resident care delivery in accordance with established plan of care, assisting with direct care needs as necessary

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and be licensed as an RN in the state of MN
  • Three or more years of experience as a Director of Nursing or Nurse Manager in a skilled nursing facility
  • Knowledge of and maintain compliance with all Department of Health Regulations as it pertains to senior living communities 
  • CPR Certification required
  • Experience with Microsoft programs and Point Click Care
  • Must receive a “not disqualified” criminal background result from DHS and may not be on the OIG exclusions list
  • In accordance with CMS Vaccine Mandate, candidate must provide proof of Covid-19 Vaccine or submit documentation for exemption

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Adaptability and flexibility in dealing with changing situations
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to self-start and follow through with initiatives with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Resident centered thinking, with awareness & sensitivity to resident needs, interests & abilities
  • Committed to interacting professionally and with care toward residents, families, and other staff
  • Ability to work with residents and staff from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to follow all applicable policies and procedures, current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern long-term care
  • Maintain continuing education credits as required
