John Grace Construction is Hiring a Human Resource Generalist Near Comstock Park, MI

TheHuman Resources Generalist at John Grace Construction is responsible for assisting theHuman Resources General Manager in all matters relating to Human Resources. The primary focus will on recruitment/staffing, onboarding new employees, employee experience, and enforcing company policies and practices while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices. Will be considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in recruiting, training and developing new hires as well as providing assistance where needed. 

Job Tasks/Functions:

  • Provide an atmosphere that is approachable to all employees and promotes positive employee relations. 
  • Administers the full-cycle recruiting process including but not limited to posting job openings, searching for and identifying qualified candidates, conducting interviews (in-person, phone, video), extending offers of employment, and onboarding new hires. Assists with development of recruiting strategies to meet current or anticipated staffing needs.
  • Ensure all employee record changes (raises, department, position, pay changes, new hires, terms, quits, etc.) are accurately and properly documented and processed. 
  • Assist employees with daily questions, concerns, and issues.
  • Maintain employee personnel files, I-9, medical, training files, and follow Company retention policies.
  • Prepare and post assorted employee communications. 
  • Complete HR reports as needed.
  • Administers and ensures company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Maintain and ensures confidentiality. 
  • Provide all information relative to unemployment claim processing. 
  • Educate employees on benefit programs, policies, and procedures. 
  • Ensures HR compliance with state and federal laws; including labor posters and other requires legal postings. 
  • Assist with the John Grace Employee Experience.
  • Master knowledge of Employee Handbook.
  • Fully support the Open Door Policy by providing assistance to all employees when you can and/or help direct them to the person that can help. 
  • Participate in internal and external audits as required.
  • Abide by all health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations which promote safety in the workplace. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year of Human Resources experience required.
  • At least 1 year in recruitment.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.

  • Must be a good listener, with great people skills, and a positive attitude.
  • Must be very organized and detail orientated with an emphasis on accuracy.
