As a Technician I at Penske, you will be a respected and experienced lead at your location. You will set an example for others, informally mentor them, and learn from your manager. You will work independently on major and minor repairs, conduct road tests to diagnose problems, and complete maintenance tasks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and maintenance of vehicles for our customers.
  • Perform preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision and in a timely manner.
  • Repair and troubleshoot major components, such as engines and transmissions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Utilize Penske's tools and technologies for repairs and diagnostics.
  • Participate in ongoing technician training.
  • Complete other assigned projects and tasks.

General Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years of practical experience in truck and tractor-trailer maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Specialized training and experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting major components.
  • Experience using all necessary tools of the trade.
  • Valid driver's license required, CDL preferred.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled conditions.
  • Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting.
  • Routine use of hands for grasping, reaching, touching, handling, and operating tools and controls.
  • Ability to work at heights and in all weather conditions.
  • Good vision and hearing for navigating the work environment safely.
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 50lbs/23kg regularly and up to 100lbs/45kg occasionally.
