Jewish Family Children Service is Hiring a Major Gifts Officer Near San Francisco, CA

JOB TITLE: Major Gifts Officer
REPORTS TO: Deputy Director of Development
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, with benefits
JOB LOCATION: San Francisco, CA

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Works with the Director of Development and the Deputy Director of Development, to strategize who to cultivate as Major Gift Donors
  • Works closely with the Development Team to strategize how best to reach out to the community for development purposes
  • Prepares an annual portfolio plan in consultation with the Deputy Director and Director of Development to review top prospect strategies
  • Grows and develops the organization’s major gifts prospect pool
  • Identify, engage, and solicit individuals and families capable of making gifts at the $1,000 major gifts level, with an emphasis on larger gifts of $5,000 and greater
  • Collaborates with the Deputy Director of Development and staff, prepares oral and written presentations, including solicitation appeals (that may be customized to meet individual prospect/donor needs and circumstances)
  • Develops and administers strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors, including tours, events, personal meetings and solicitations, letters, and ongoing follow-up
  • Leverages board and staff relationships to maximize development opportunities, including designing and executing high-level solicitations
  • Cultivates relationships with community businesses and foundations, and participates in the identification, development, cultivation, and solicitation of business donors, and foundations
  • Staff Committees to encourage further involvement by committee members in JFCS while working to increase donor giving
  • Works to cultivate and solicit gifts for all events whether virtual or in person
  • Effectively utilize the prospect management system to record prospect/donor activity and other relevant data in a timely fashion
  • Participates in training to develop knowledge of Development theory and practice

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA required
  • Training and experience in business and marketing and development preferred
  • Desire to work in a social service setting required
  • Commitment to and enthusiasm for the mission, goals, and objectives of the Agency
  • Demonstrated experience as a writer
  • Very strong attention to detail and to documenting projects, activities, and outcomes
  • Must possess a strong customer service orientation and ability to work well with team members and co-workers
  • Strong computer skills
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required
  • Strong understanding of the use of social media to enhance marketing strategies
  • Superior organizational/project management skills
  • Meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete projects with a minimum amount of direct supervision
  • Ability to work in an environment where producing results and generating revenue are basic requirements of the position
  • Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by the date of hire to be considered
