Overview

Position Summary:

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for the overall successful planning, direction and coordination of cabin appearance and ramp support operations. Key areas of responsibilities include promoting and maintaining relationships with airlines clients, on time performance, safe operation and management of ground equipment, staffing and exceeding station goals. The Assistant General Manager is required to deliver against established operational and financial performance goals. Leadership of business activities entails dedicated oversight to ensure compliance with multiple governmental regulations such as FAA, TSA, OSHA, DOT and CBP.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Direct and coordinate activities of businesses or departments through reporting Ops Managers and support staff in collaboration with local partnerships to maximize operational performance in areas of on-time execution, staffing, training, compliance and safety
• Support and carry out the initiatives of the General Manager
• Direct station leadership to achieve agreed targets and proactively identify areas for continued development
• Interact with airport authorities, government agencies, airline customers and external organizations
• Ensure all ramp safety, security rules and regulations are followed; report any violations as necessary
• Establishes accountability for customer service delivery, cost management and regulatory compliance
• Participate in all local, regulatory and business partner audits and report any findings and/or areas of concerns
• Review facilities and operations for compliance and accident prevention deficiencies
• Coordinate purchases for operational necessities and ensure adequate supplies are available to meet customer standards
• Investigate, report and implement corrective action for any incident of aircraft damage or employee injury and conduct/participate in employee coaching and counseling as necessary
• Delivers against operational and financial goals and objectives
• Accounts for ground support equipment
• Manage scheduling of employees and workgroup assignments
• Support the recruitment process and employee development in collaboration with the HR team

Qualifications

Competencies:

• Strong working knowledge of airline operations
• Strong knowledge in ramp operations
• Strong knowledge in cargo operations
• Ability to work a variety of shifts and day off patterns as needed to support the operation
• Proven business acumen, technical learning/innovation management and a drive for results
• Ability to understand financial implications (cost benefit) in operational decisions
• Superior problem-solving, conflict management and decision making skills
• Demonstrate communication, leadership and analytical skills
• Ability to develop effective relationships at all levels
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office software; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Publisher

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management or related field and/or equivalent experience; 3-5 years of airline/aviation experience required.
• Strong understanding of Airline Cabin Cleaning Services

 Additional Requirements:

• Possess a valid US driver’s license
• Must pass drug screen and a 10-year FAA background check (employment/criminal)
• Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills in English
• Must be able to perform in a fast paced environment while maintaining a professional and effective approach to high stress situations
• Internal candidates must have a recommendation from immediate supervisor

 Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment as well as outdoors in an airport ramp environment. The employee may become exposed to the elements including but not limited to heat, rain, and snow.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
