Description

Position Summary: Assists the Lead Housekeeper in the completion of all duties of cleaning and sanitizing the facility and its contents to provide a safe and sanitary.

Essential Functions

  • Performs overall cleaning and sanitizing duties as directed and trained by the Lead Housekeeper.
  • Performs thorough daily cleaning and sanitizing activities of resident rooms in accordance with schedule developed by supervisor.
  • Cleans, sanitizes, polishes and removes debris from floors, tables, furniture, walls, doors, handrails and other surfaces.
  • Responsibly and safely uses a variety of cleaning equipment.
  • Reports all repair issues on equipment to the Lead Housekeeper.
  • Uses proper signage during cleaning activities for the safety of others.
  • Adheres to the department’s system for organizing and storing supplies and equipment in storage areas.
  • Maintains all records of cleaning scheduled in a timely and accurate method, as directed.
  • Completes inventories of supplies as directed.
  • Assists in receiving deliveries and stores items properly and as directed.
  • Complies with federal, state, local and company health, safety, sanitation and infection control laws, regulations and standards including Standard Precautions.
  • Complies with the company’s employee safety prevention and accident reporting program.
  • Participates in fire drills and other safety drills.
  • Attends all required training and meetings.
  • Attends all required in-services as directed by the Administrator.
  • Takes part in employee orientation as directed.
  • Cooperates and problem-solves with other departments and staff, residents, families, vendors, and others to support the residents’ needs.
  • Timely response and follow through on all communications.
  • Protects the confidential nature of resident information and adheres to resident rights.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Works extra hours when necessary and performs duties of other positions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitation practices.
  • Dedicated interest in assisting a senior population.
  • Able and willing to take direction from management.
  • History of ethical conduct.
  • Patience and acceptance of constant change in own work environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
  • Reads, writes, speaks, and understands the English language.
  • Self-directed organizational skills that enhance the ability to manage numerous duties.

Preferred Education or Experience

  • High school Diploma or GED

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to

successfully perform the essential functions of this job. They include:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to finger, feel, handle controls, talk, walk, hear, reach out and up with hands and arms, stoop and kneel.
  • May stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Requires physical contact with residents.
  • Must be able to easily lift, carry, and otherwise move at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to tolerate changing temperatures when moving inside and outside the facility.

The work environment is a professional healthcare environment. Employees could be exposed to:

  • Noise levels range from moderate to loud.
  • Contagious or infectious diseases.
  • Dermatitis from frequent hand-washing.
  • Needle stick injury.
  • Bio-hazardous waste.
  • Chemicals used for cleaning and sanitizing; fumes and odors.
  • While performing administrative duties, the work environment includes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
