Bell Middle School's vision that all students will have the skills to be proactive citizens in an ever-evolving global society drives our teaching and learning. We take pride in being the only neighborhood middle school in Golden, and in having a diverse student population, both socio-economically and culturally. We genuinely believe that all means all, and continually seek equity in our educational opportunities. The focus on community, both inside and outside of Bell, makes Bell unique. Internally, we are organized in a teaming model for English, science, and social studies in grades 6-8, and we are in the beginning stages of implementing restorative practices to further enhance the focus on community. We also have revisited and redefined our Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) at Bell. Outside of Bell, we often leverage our strong community partnerships in our Project Based Learning (PBL) activities, providing students with rare opportunities to engage in real-world projects and empathize with the world they live in. Starting in the 2019-2020 school year, we are taking our highly successful PBL model present in our iSTEM pathway and replicating it in an Arts & Humanities pathway.
Bell's vision that All students will have the skills to be proactive citizens in an ever-evolving global society drives our focus on high expectations for ALL students. Because of the broad diversity of our students' abilities, teachers should be skilled in planning and implementing data-driven, differentiated lessons. Teachers at Bell have a passion for creating positive relationships with middle school-aged students (11-14 year olds), project-based learning, and collaborating with teacher colleagues, admin, and classified staff.
