Description
Assumes full job responsibility of Delivery Truck Driver while maximizing effectiveness and proficiency for
J.D. Heiskell & Company and its Transportation Department. Loads, transports, and delivers materials to and from specified destinations, safely operating tractor and trailer(s). Communicating with dispatch, mill employees, and customers, delivery drivers must exhibit the qualities of professionalism, teamwork and pride
Requirements
Licenses: Valid class A California Commercial driver’s license with appropriate endorsements. Current DMV printout required with a J.D. Heiskell employment application.
• Driving record must meet minimum risk management requirements
Language Skills:/Ability to read English and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of J.D. Heiskell & Company.
Mathematical Skills:/Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Experience: 2 years driving experience preferred with truck trailer combinations.
Picks up load at origin and delivers safely to destination. Loads trailer in accordance with procedures and laws governing transportation (DOT). Operates tractor and trailer to unload product in the correct location, as required by customer. Collects signatures for goods delivered. Provides feedback to management of issues and inventory on hand at time of delivery.
May operate on-board computer, or other source imputing delivery data and other information.
Must maintain acceptable safety record and adhere to JDH safety policies.
Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections vehicle safety inspections of each vehicle operated. Fills out Driver’s Vehicle Condition Report (DVCR) as required by DOT and the company.
Maintains daily HOS log, according to state and federal regulations.
Fills out completely and correctly any and all required paperwork in connection with delivery.
Safety and Security: Observes safety and security procedures as a top priority. Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines. Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
Effectiveness: Continuously meeting all aspects of production standards for the job when on duty. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Completes tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
Professionalism: Approaches others in a tactful and respectful manner. Accepts responsibility for one’s own actions. Relates within the company and with our customers in an appropriate and positive manner.
