JBS USA is Hiring a CATEGORY MANAGER Near Greeley, CO

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: Pilgrim’s is searching for a Category Manager to drive profitable growth into the Retail Deli/Wholesale channel. This role will engage cross functionally with market intelligence, revenue management, commerce, research & development, operations, supply chain and sales/CSR functions to drive results within the focus portfolio. This role will own the Profit & Loss statement (PnL), in coordination with divisional finance, for a 100M pound value added business and execute category marketing fundamentals (price, promotion, placement, product & profit).

Candidates must… be a cultural fit for Pilgrim’s, take initiative, communicate, work independently & cross functionally, build meaningful relationships, simplify complex analysis, and provide actionable fact-based recommendations to deliver results.

This role will be on-site in Greeley, Colorado, at the JBS USA corporate headquarters and report into the Head of Category Management – Foodservice/Deli

Responsibilities:

  • Own the PnL: for Pierce® and Private Label brands sold into Retail Deli/Wholesale.
  • Drive Profitable Growth: own and understand all fundamentals for core portfolio related to mix, price and cost; engage cross-functionally to identify opportunities that support profitable growth and work with external stakeholders to realize that growth.
  • Fact Based, Analytically Driven: lead quantitative and qualitative portfolio performance analysis, leverage that analysis to drive insights and recommendations that support profitable growth, execute strategic initiatives in support of our long-term growth plan.
  • Execute Fundamentals: related to product (market relevant & competitive mix of items), price (that supports market relevant and profitable growth), promotions (that drive positive return on investment and improve run-rate for focus products), and placement (build GTM content for the appropriate customer segments that support strategic share growth).
  • Engage & Collaborate: leverage cross-functional resources to continuously improve our focus portfolio with strategic product & GTM implementation; renovate our core portfolio to drive competitiveness, support innovation that drives differentiation, build GTM plans for breakthrough innovation and meet growth objectives.
  • Communicate: build relationships with all internal/external stakeholders, understand the team members core functions, hold each other accountable to deliver results; drive simple/concise/relevant communications to stakeholders so they can be more effective.
  • Subject Matter Expert: know your category, portfolio, and target customer segments intimately; communicate need states cross-functionally; be the champion for both the product and the target customers internally.
  • Committed: be committed to your cross-functional teams, your core responsibilities, and your own personal development.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or similar field preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in business management, marketing, supply chain, or analysis.
  • CPG/Food marketing experience preferred; food industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of interdepartmental functions and experience in interacting closely with the sales team as well as other teams cross functionally.
  • Excellent organizational skills and acute attention to detail.
  • Strong financial and quantitative analytical skills with core competency in Excel, PPT and Word.
  • Excellent project management skills, ability to work cross-functionally across departments.
  • Ability to participate in strategic and annual planning.
  • Strong communication skills including written and verbal presentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $115,000 - $135,000; and
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
