JB Poindexter & Co is Hiring a Manufacturing Engineer Near Elkhart, IN

Overall Responsibilities: This Manufacturing Engineering position is charged with development and implementation of fabrication, assembly and sub-assembly operations including all supporting documentation and process maps. The integration of new and diverse products into production is a key area of accountability and will require the individual to work in and lead cross functional teams. Validation of labor requirements and updating of the work content, standards and routing order for operations will be a fundamental area of responsibility. The position will assist the quality control department in the development of quality check points for all product lines throughout the manufacturing process. Recommendations and specification of capital equipment including but not limited to process equipment, Automation advancement, facility construction and facility mechanicals is also integrated into this function. RESPONSIBILITIES: Improving efficiency and flow of the production line with emphasis on Product construction and assembly Developing layouts for assembly, fabricating and sub-assembly cells Participating in cross functional teams applying best practices to manufacturing processes Working with the Design Engineering and Operations on DFM projects Maintaining and updating shop floor layouts utilizing current modeling and CAD software Creating, reviewing and updating process documentation including Method sheets and Quality Control forms Conducting root cause analysis and taking corrective action for issues generating scrap, rework or quality deficiencies Project management responsibilities in the integration of innovation and technology advancements as they relate to manufacturing equipment and processes Integration of new products into the manufacturing process Recommends and participates in the testing and approval process for raw materials and components Develops action plans and budgetary estimates required for project completion: labor, materials space, capital etc. Responsible for tracking and monitoring progress of manufacturing project(s) and compares actual costs with budget projections. Characteristics and skills: Proven expertise as an Manufacturing, Facilities or Industrial engineer Hands-on experience using design and calculation software Ability to operate related office equipment, such as computers and copiers. Ability to work independently and in a demanding environment. Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Educational and other requirements: Must have Bachelors of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology or a related discipline 3 years minimum experience in a production environment with a process and product improvement focus AutoCAD and/or Solidworks experience Good administrative, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals Familiar with quality systems and quality requirements Six Sigma experience highly desirable Experience with lean principles (5S, kaizen, value stream mapping, demand flow etc.) Good mechanical, analytical, and technical skills. Solid background in CAD solid modeling experience in a manufacturing setting with Solid works, CATIA or Team center. Must be a initiative-taker capable of working both independently, as well as part of a team. At least two years of related experience required. A true “collaborative” leader that embraces the idea that he/she is the “go-to” person.
