About the Role:

We are looking for a dedicated, analytical chemist to be responsible for studying the chemical make-up of materials as well as working to formulate new products and compounds. The chemist's responsibilities include testing products, verifying reactions to products, amongst other tasks. The Chemist will conduct research and explore how products, processes, and equipment may be improved.

What you’ll do:

  • Determining chemical and physical properties, compositions, structures, relationships, and reactions of organic and inorganic compounds.
  • Developing, improving, and customizing products, equipment, formulas, processes, and analytical methods.
  • Reverse engineering products as necessary in order to improve formulas and raw material issues.
  • Utilizes established methods and procedures and laboratory equipment to perform analytical testing of substances.
  • Maintaining laboratory instruments, troubleshooting malfunctions, and working with multiple pieces of laboratory equipment
  • Evaluating and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety procedures and standards.
  • Provide technical strength in the department with skilled analytical techniques, superior QC performance, technically sound SOPs and methods, and instrument (method) troubleshooting.
  • Develop and execute product characteristic testing.
  • Provide support to inbound QC of raw materials and finished components
  • Work with suppliers to ensure accurate production of JD developed formulas, and as a resource on all technical material issues.
  • Generate technical reports and product SDS’s as necessary.
What you’ll bring:
  • A bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field
  • 2-5 years of relative work experience with polymer formulations, ideally experience with epoxies and solvent and water based coatings.
  • Experience with paint, epoxy, and adhesives is required
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and scientific equipment.
