Your Impact:

The Ground Systems Support Directorate is seeking a seasoned and dynamic Project Manager, within the Ground Systems Support (GSS) Directorate at Kennedy Space Center, having a strong background in engineering, performance management, organizational change management, asset management, strategic planning, and project execution within an operations and maintenance organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing complex technical projects from requirements development through implementation, sustainment, and project closeout as well as a strong technical background understanding technical changes and complex systems. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, organization, time management, and interpersonal communication skills as well as a strong and broad technical background in mechanical, fluids, electrical and software experience would be preferred. The successful candidate must also demonstrate a high level of proficiency and success in financial estimating and budget management to include the following: Statement of Work (SOW), Bill of Materials (BOM), Basis of Estimate (BOE), and all facets of project planning, estimating, tracking, reporting, and control (technical, cost, schedule). The candidate must demonstrate a high level of proficiency and confidence with developing and presenting multimedia briefings using both qualitative and quantitative data. Experience and proficiency with data mining, data analytics, and/or statistical process control and associated analytical software (Excel formulas, pivot tables, and graphs; statistical process control software) is highly desirable. Experience leading complex Design, Development, Test, and Evaluation (DDT&E), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and/or Root Cause Analysis (RCA) projects is desirable. Certifications or extensive experience in the following is desirable: Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Lean Six Sigma (L6S), and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Maximo, Primavera, Peoplesoft and Solumina is desirable. Responsibilities include the following: Manage the Administration of the Ground Systems Working Team (GSWT) for COMET and lead special projects and project teams as assigned by the Director in support of GSS strategic goals and objectives. Review CMMS and metrics data to identify performance issues and opportunities for improvement. Track department costs vs estimates to identify and substantiate variances. Develop detailed project plans to include Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Bill of Materials (BOM), Basis of Estimates (BOE), resources, and milestone driven schedules to included regularly schedule status updates through project closure. Serve as a Lead or Facilitator for RCA projects when required. Candidates having experience in the following areas would be beneficial to excelling in this role: design, fabrications, installations, operations and maintenance, asset management, reliability centered maintenance, failure modes & effects analysis, hazard assessment, root cause analysis, and utilization of metrics to drive performance and process improvement.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least 10 years of experience and/or an advanced degree.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

  • Will be required to climb stairs in order to access equipment for trouble shooting.
  • Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.
  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
  • Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structure
  • Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

Work Environment

  • Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
  • Position may require daily individual to travel to different areas on site.
  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
  • Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company
  • safety standards.

Equipment and Machines

  • Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
  • Variety of equipment used in testing.

Attendance

  • Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday.
  • Position may require occasional overtime including weekend work depending on task.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Shift work may be required.

Other Essential Functions

  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
  • Government security clearance may be required in the future.
  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
